After dropping the first five games of the season, Mayfield’s softball team was still searching for momentum and confidence. Each loss made it tougher, but the team stayed determined and continued to push forward. On March 17th, 2026, Mayfield’s Softball Team finally earned a hard-fought victory against Montebello High School. Playing on their home field at Brookside Park, they secured their first win with a final score of 10-8. Thanks to great hits from seniors Hannah Alfaro ’26, Mackenzie Taylor ’26, and outstanding base play from Dylan Ringel ’28, and Sarah Salazar ’27, the cubs were able to set themselves up for success. The game was close the entire time, with both teams battling inning after inning, but the Cubs stayed composed and rose to the challenge when it mattered most. They look forward to taking this new found energy with them to San Diego, where they will take on Coastal Academy and Canyon Crest Academy.
