On April 14th, 2026, the Mayfield Varsity Softball team celebrated their 12–1 victory against Westridge. After being defeated countless times in previous matchups, this win marked a turning point for the team. With strong pitching from Sophomore Harlinn Moriarty, consistent hitting from Junior Sarah Salazar, and sharp defense from Senior Hannah Alfaro, Mayfield controlled the game from the first inning. Despite giving up a run in their first inning, the Cubs quickly responded by putting up eight runs in their first trip to the plate. From that point forward, Mayfield dominated on both offense and defense. This victory isn’t the end of their success, as they are set to face Westridge again on April 27, 2026. In the meantime, the Cubs are turning their focus to an upcoming matchup against Flintridge Prep on April 16, 2026. Carrying momentum from this breakthrough victory, Mayfield looks to continue building on their success and make the most of the remainder of their season.
