Sofia Leon, Cub Student News Editor in Chief
Sofia Leon is a junior at Mayfield Senior, and this is her second year being on the Crier staff. Sofia is editor in chief of the Cub Student News video programming, in addition to a reporter on theatre and sports. This is also her third year on the Mayfield varsity soccer team, and 12th year playing soccer. She is also a part of the Mayfield Technical Theatre conservatory and this year will be her first year student directing for the fall play. Last year she wrote reports on sports and the Altadena Fire. She looks forward to working with the staff!
Lucia Olivarez, Cub Student News Editor In Chief
Lucia Olivarez is a Senior at Mayfield. She is currently in her second year of journalism, and is a reporter as well as staff writer who specializes in sports and enjoys reporting on things such as issues that matter to her and self care. Outside of school, Lucia is entering her fourth year playing volleyball and volunteers with the National Charity League. Lucia is excited to be back entering her second year of journalism and can’t wait to advance her writing skills and create more pieces for the Mayfield Crier.
Lauren Arcenas, Staff Writer
Lauren Arcenas is a senior at Mayfield, and is incredibly excited to jump back into her 2nd year both as a returning transfer student and on the Crier as a staff writer. Outside of Mayfield, Lauren does karate and is on their competition team, plays high school basketball and training. She also is in a choir church serving as the president, where they recently performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Youth ministry peer leader and a Junior Ambassador for CHLA. In the future, she hopes to become a pediatrician or psychologist. In her free time Lauren enjoys songwriting, writing poems, sleeping, spending time with friends and families and watching movies.
Mary Bingham, Online Managing Editor-in-Chief
Mary Bingham is a junior at Mayfield, and is excited to be the Online-Managing Editor-in-Chief of the Crier this year. She has two Scholastic honorable mentions in the review and poetry categories. Outside of Newspaper, she is a member of Mayfield’s Theatre Conservatory, participating in both the fall play and the spring musical, a highlight playing Jane Seymour in the Six: Teen Edition production last spring. She is also a retreat leader, a theater representative on the Arts Council, and a member of Campus Ministry. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, singing, songwriting, listening to music, reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family. She is especially interested in writing about entertainment and pop culture.
Colette Nappi, Staff Writer
Senior Colette Nappi comes to the Mayfield Crier with years of experience as a yearbook staffer where she serves as this year’s Copy Editor-in-Chief. She is very excited this year to join the crier staff and continue her journalism career. Service plays a prominent role in Colette’s life as a member in Girl Scouts and National Charity League. Colette is also a member of the Theatre and Creative Writing Conservatories and is a student leader in both Campus Ministry and Arts Council. For fun, Colette loves playing volleyball and many instruments, her favorite of which being guitar.
Vivian Schneider, Staff Writer
Vivian Schneider is a staff writer at the Mayfield Crier. She has one year of experience in yearbook writing from last year. Vivian is especially passionate about writing news of all subjects. She has a lot of experience with writing about sports articles, profiles, events, and student life in general from last year. She has passion for all kinds of writing, and is part of the creative writing conservatory at Mayfield, and enjoys volunteer work at the animal shelter.
Harlinn Moriarty, Staff Writer
Harlinn Moriarty is currently a sophomore at Mayfield Senior School. This is her first year writing for The Mayfield Crier and currently enrolled in Beginning Journalism. Outside of writing Harlinn plays softball for her school team and is the cohead of a club on campus! She looks forward to strengthening her writing and interviewing skills as well as hoping to publish more articles for the Mayfield Crier!
Chloe Chiang, Crier Managing Editorial Assistant
Chloe Chiang is a sophomore at Mayfield Senior School, and this will be her second year writing for the Mayfield Crier. Alongside being the Managing Editorial Assistant for the Crier, she serves in Campus Ministry and as the Newspaper Representative on Arts Council. Chloe focuses on community and culture pieces, often conducting interviews and showcasing her Filipino heritage. As a Filipino-American, she speaks fluent Illongo and strives to improve her articulacy in Tagalog as well. At Mayfield, Chloe enjoys participating in theater, photography, cubs in action ambassadors, and swimming. In her free time, she also loves baking, singing, reading, and taking part in outlets for creative writing. Chloe cannot wait to watch the Crier continue to flourish and is ecstatic to contribute to its growth this year!
Sophia Mills is a Sophomore science staff writer at Mayfield Senior School. This is her second year contributing to the Mayfield Crier and she is very passionate about reporting the latest news concerning science, sports, and student life on campus. With an eye for detail and a natural curiosity, Sophia strives to inform and inspire through engaging journalism. Whether she’s covering the latest scientific discoveries or highlighting achievements in athletics, she is committed to delivering accurate and meaningful stories that resonate with the Mayfield community.
Guiliana McAlister is a senior and is so excited to continue her writing career! She was a staff writer for Mayfield Crier her sophomore year and is now in Advanced Journalism to create more pieces. She is involved in a lot on campus, including being elected ASB President, Dance Conservatory, Theatre Conservatory, Women’s Ensemble, and more. She is always willing to try new things and cannot wait to spotlight fun Mayfield events hosted on and off campus. She looks forward to working with the staff and gaining new experiences!
