Hello Mayfield!
Although school has already started with the second week under way, the summer heat has refused to give in. But so have we! AP Calc students have come in early for morning labs, Bio interns have stayed later to set up labs and take care of Hook the snake, and all of us have struggled to get used to the new schedule. Second week, check.
This year on The Mayfield Crier we are looking forward to spotlighting the many special members of our community through ‘Me Time’s— the first of which celebrates our very own Selina Ye from Dance Conservatory!
So much has happened already in only two weeks of school!: The Seniors have had their Senior Sunrise right next door at Taylor McTigue’s house, conservatories have started up, and school sports are in full swing. In fact, you can check out this Mayfield Minute, Varsity Tennis defeats LaSalle 12-6 by Anais Escudero ‘28 that recounts Mayfield’s win on the tennis court over LaSalle. Not into sports? That’s okay! Chloe Chiang ‘28 has written a piece— 5 Treats That Transport Your Tastebuds to the Philippines— about 5 sweet (and cold!) treats from the Philippines that are sure to help you beat the heat while enjoying their traditional desserts. On another note, we will keep you updated about the senior class’ special moments and events all throughout the year, so be sure to keep an eye out for future articles!
We cannot wait to see how our staff will grow in their writing this year! Stay tuned for our soon-to-be-published articles and our next letter in October!
Until next time,
Graciela and Sofia
