On Thursday, May 8th, 2025, the Mayfield Senior Women’s Ensemble performed three beautiful songs to commemorate the fallen police and firefighters. Following the introduction by Fire Deputy Anthony James and the Presentation of Colors by U.S Marine Corps 2nd Battalion and 23rd Marine Regiment of Pasadena, the Ensemble walked up the steps of City Hall to sing the National Anthem. As the American Flag was draped down, the crowd joined in song with one hand over their heart. The Mayor of Pasadena Victor Gordo spoke of the honorary title firemen and policemen hold in our city, praising their unwavering courage as they risk their lives to keep our community safe. After more remarks from Police and Fire Chaplains, the Ensemble performed America the Beautiful, their harmonies echoing through the courtyard as the audience stood in quiet reverence. Finally, after a prayer from Chaplain Victor Laveaga, the Cubs ascended the stairs once again to sing Hallelujah. As the last note lingered in the air, it served as a powerful conclusion to a memorial that honored the enduring spirit of our firefighters and police. The Cubs thank Mr. Alvarez for making this wonderful experience possible. Through his guidance and support, they not only took part in a meaningful tribute but also came away with a deeper understanding of the values that define our nation.
