This week, Mayfield’s arts councils took a field trip to the Norton Simon museum. Students from the creative writing, photography, and visual arts conservatories came together to visit Pasadena’s favorite museum. Led by arts teachers Mr. Lewis, Mrs. Green, and Mrs. Gomez, the students were able to explore the diverse artwork and history the museum holds. From Southeast Asian sculptures to European paintings, the young artists were able to gain inspiration from all over the world. The Mayfield art teachers gave their conservatories tasks to complete while exploring the museum, such as renaming their favorite painting, or sketching the sculptures. This field trip allowed Mayfield’s artists to gain exposure to many new art forms!
