The Mayfield Cross-Country Team is off to a great start. Our ten runners include Emma Garcia, Elise Delhommeau, Dannah Cabrera, Kennedy Klosterman, Hope Medel, Rowan Schoettler, and Chloe Guerra. Our three seniors include Grace Culver, Sophia Page, and Chloe Cobian. Cross-Country had their first meet on September 13th at Moorpark Invitational. Hope Medel and Rowan Schoettler led the team to victory, placing 21st and 22nd place overall. The Cubs competed on Tuesday in their first league race of the season at Crescenta Valley Park. They competed against Polytechnic, Westridge. Flintridge Prep, Providence, and Chadwick. Rowan Schoettler placed 15th, and Hope Medel placed 17th place overall. The team ran exceptionally well, with the Varsity team placing 4th place. Our team is running on October 10th at the Chadwick Invitational. The Mayfield community can’t wait to see how the team will do the rest of this season! If you want to support our seniors and cross-country team, the cross-country League finals and Senior night is on November 2nd. Go Cubs!

Grace Culver is a Senior at Mayfield Senior school, and this is her first year on the Mayfield Crier and Cubs Student News staff. In middle school, Grace was part of her school’s news program, and is excited to continue her journalism journey this year. Additionally, Grace has experience working in publications from her time on the yearbook staff, where she works as the Sports Editor. Outside of the classroom, she is a part of the cross-country and track and field teams, and plans on reporting on Mayfield athletics. Grace is very excited to start writing for the Mayfield Crier!
