The Mid-Autumn festival is known for bringing friends and families together in a celebration to pray for peace and prosperity for all. This past week, the Mandarin class at Mayfield all gathered around to commemorate this special holiday. Students tried many different kinds of teas and tasted authentic Chinese mooncakes all while discussing cultural practices of China. To really capture the beauty of these traditions, Mandarin students designed unique masks with various patterns from the Peking opera.
Overall, this experience brought everyone together to learn more about the values of cherishing your loved ones and wishing peace amongst the community in these upcoming years.
