Mayfield students of the visual arts and photography conservatories were thrilled to participate in the Robert Graham Memorial exhibition, along with sixty art students from twelve other Catholic high schools of the Los Angeles Archdiocese, in a celebration of ‘Spirituality in the Arts.’ On Sunday, March 19th, five Mayfield Visual Artists contributed pieces of art to be displayed in this year’s student art exhibition at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels in Downtown. These visual artists include Sarah Brennan ’24 with a colored pencil illustration, Lucia Derriman ‘24 with a watercolor painting, and Mia Mayer ‘24 with an acrylic painting. Additionally, photographers Isabella Sanches ‘23 and Kasani Freeman ‘24 each displayed a portrait piece. After celebrating Mass, the artists received a blessing from Archbishop José H. Gomez in a ceremony. Then, they were each presented with a “Certificate of Excellence” commemorating their work, and were invited to take a photograph alongside the Archbishop. The Mayfield artists’ pieces are open to the public and are being displayed at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels in Downtown Los Angeles for approximately two and a half months. It was a memorable and successful day for our hard-working artist cubs!
