Bring your own refillable water bottle

More than 60 million plastic bottles end up in landfills and incinerators every day – a total of about 22 billion last year. We can make a huge difference in the amount of waste ending up in the ocean by just bringing our own cup. (get that Starbucks discount!)

Avoid Taking Cars or Carpool When Possible.

Not taking your car to school is a great way of reducing the amount of greenhouse gases you release into the air. Walking to school if you live close is a great way of getting exercise. Try to carpool with your friends so that you can spend time with your besties before you take the math test.  

Choose to reuse:

That peanut butter jar can become a vase, or planter. Used gelato containers are perfect for storing your paper clips inside.

Use Reusable Bags. 

Bring your lunch in reusable plastic containers to avoid using plastic wrap.

Conserve Electricity

When you are the last one to leave a room, be sure to turn off the lights. Switch to energy-efficient light bulbs. They last longer.  Lower your air conditioning or heat when it’s not necessary. Open your windows in the early fall or layer your clothes if you are cold. It’s that easy!

Save Water

You know the drill- turn off the faucet as you are brushing your teeth. Don’t leave the sink running as you are washing dishes. Turn on the shower when you are ready to wash your hair.  Only use the washing machine and dishwasher and for full loads of clothes and dishes.

EPA Office of Solid Waste, Americans throw away more than 68 pounds of clothing and textiles per person per year—not donates or consigns, straight-up throws in the trash. The UN consider fashion to be the second most polluting industry in the world. 

When is comes to fashion, buy less and buy better.
