On September 3rd, Mayfield Senior Varsity Tennis defeated Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 11-7! A tennis court can be 10-30 degrees hotter than the actual temperature outside, and playing conditions were especially grueling with temperatures over 90 degrees in general. Although many girls succumbed to heat exhaustion, the team still pushed through and gave it their all. What made this match even more significant than ever before was the history between the two schools. In previous years, it was common for this tennis team to tie or win by a hair against FSHA, but finally, they established a clear lead, winning by a wide margin. This was their 3rd non-league match, and they look forward to playing Temple City on September 5th! With their momentum building and their confidence high, the Cubs have proven that they can endure tough conditions and rise above expectations.
