On September 8th, Mayfield Senior Varsity Tennis defeated Immaculate Heart Academy 11-7! This team continues to show growth and improvement, and this match was especially rewarding after their loss against Temple City 6-12. This comeback will push them even further to their next matches, especially their league ones. Although there were frequent disagreements, most of the doubles teams won their matches, as well as the singles. Throughout this season, these teams have learned to develop strategy in dire situations. The Cubs are eager to play their 5th non-league match against Village Christian on September 9th!

Anais Escudero is a sophomore at Mayfield Senior School, and is the Athletics and Features Editorial Assistant for the Mayfield Crier! This is her second year writing for the newspaper, and aside from athletics, she is passionate about writing for science, politics, breaking news, and personal experiences. This is her second year playing for Varsity tennis, and she is a part of the Women’s Ensemble, Campus Ministry Council, and is the head of the debate club. Anais loves to read, go to the beach, draw, watch medical marvels and court TV programs, make flower bouquets, and spend time with her family and friends.
