The Varsity golf team is off to a great start in their 2025 season. The Cubs have been training all summer and they are ready to dominate the course. Their first match of the season took place on September 2nd against San Dimas High School where they triumphed 263-274. On September 8th the Cubs had another tough match out in the heat against Crescenta Valley High School and they took home the win 198-218. The athlete of the week was Sophomore Elin Choy for her performance out on the course. She shared “I was very satisfied with the score that I shot at Scholl Canyon Golf Course. I am striving and expecting more from myself going forward. I hope to be able to qualify for this year’s CIF.” Congratulations to Elin on her amazing performance! Lets wish the golf team luck in their 2025 season!

Ann Tanaka is a Senior at Mayfield Senior School and the Sports Editor of the Mayfield Crier. She joined Newspaper in her junior year and has grown to become extremely passionate about writing. While she enjoys writing about many subjects, she is especially interested in writing about sports. In addition to writing, she pursues her passion for sports as a Junior Olympic diver and a swim coach. Outside of school, she likes to spend her time volunteering at various organizations such as Club Moai and Club 21. This year, Ann is thrilled to improve her writing skills and explore new topics.
