The Cubs Varsity Track and Field Team had an incredible season as they strived for greatness in the Prep League Finals at Burroughs High School! The Cubs won second for girls with an outstanding performance from Leah Whitfield ’26 who won first place in the triple jump finals and remarkable throws from Kate Alexander ’28 from shot put who won second place in shot put. They will both be going to CIF’s! But, the spotlight on April 30th, 2025 was on the four seniors Monica Vargas ’25 (hurdles and sprints), Kayla Abbaruzzi ’25 (shot put), Isabel Norton ’25 (distance), and Sissy Page ’25 (high jump) who inspired and left a legacy for the underclassmen. They will leave a big gap in the team as they have carried them to success, especially Monica Vargas ’25 who set many titles and is a ranked runner in the country. Monica will be attending Cornell University next year! The team is excited to celebrate everyone going to CIF’s, but they will greatly miss the seniors who set high standards for the team.
