On April 24th, 2025, the freshman class of 2028 embarked on their service day! They drove to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and were split into 2 groups. One group assembled kit’s for the elderly and the other assembled produce like potatoes and carrots. They assembled over 1200 kits and organized over 500 pounds of produce, which was rewarding to the freshman when they saw how their teamwork and bond as a class paid off. However, the most important lesson learned through this experience was about food insecurity. 1 in 7 families in America suffer from food insecurity and minority groups are the main victims of this tragedy. Since established in 1973, LARB has distributed over 1.5 billion meals across America, with over 600 partner agencies in 2025. The main takeaway for the freshman was how we can use our knowledge about food insecurity in America to educate others and to use the privileges we have to help those in need for the greater good.
