After 3 weeks in Mayfield Senior School I have come away with so many new and fun experiences and got to meet so many girls who were kind, thoughtful and made me feel so welcome. If I can go away with one main idea about the US it’s that people will go out of their way to make you feel welcome (and there’s a lot of food!)
Of course, there were some culture shocks like the ALICE drill, Pledge of Allegiance in Community and other uniquely American experiences but as I listened to girls complaining about all the homework they had to finish and the tests they had to study for, I couldn’t help but feel like I was right at home (except for the accents).
I got to explore the school and learn what it’s like to go to Mayfield and learn that it’s a actually quite similar to going to Holy Child Killiney, and if I had to stay here I think I’d be as happy as I was at home, which is what makes Mayfield so special to me.
So thanks Mayfield, and maybe I’ll see you again.
