Senior Scrapbook: Basketball Senior Night

The basketball team celebrated senior players Kristen Awakuni, Jenna Domingo, Neci Dunn, Christine Ellis, Kennedy Taylor, and Sienna Thompson.

The cubs took on Westridge in a thrilling senior night game. The starting lineup was the Class of 2025: Domingo as point guard; Awakuni and Dunn as guards; Ellis as center; and Taylor as power forward. Fans cheered as the whistle blew and by the end of the first half, the cubs were up 27-14. After a quick team meeting, Mayfield was back at it. The game ended with the cubs victorious (52-26) and senior night was just getting started. “It was so special to play in front of my family and friends. It’s a game I’ll never forget” says Christine Ellis ‘25, Co-Captain and senior athlete.

Gift baskets were generously filled with team photos, a Mayfield blanket, candy, soda, self-care items, and more!

After the game, family, friends, and teammates gathered together to celebrate. Teammates had the opportunity to recall funny moments and wish the seniors well by giving creative speeches. Seniors received gift baskets containing a team picture, candy, self-care items, flowers and more. In addition to just celebrating the athletes, senior families and parents were also honored with flowers.

The night ended with delicious tacos courtesy of the senior families and basketball team. Mexican catering was available to all in attendance. Yum!

Sophie Limongelli is a senior at Mayfield Senior School. This is her second year writing for The Mayfield Crier. Last year, in her Journalism class, she reported for Cubs Student News and learned about current events, podcasting, and column writing. She has a leadership role in Campus Ministry Council and is the head of an environmental club! Sophie enjoys interviews, localized news reporting, and is eager to try new things. Kate Georgino, Feature Co-Editer

Kate Georgino is a senior at Mayfield Senior School and this will be her third year writing for the Mayfield Crier. Kate enjoys learning about podcasting, current events, and photography. Kate has received an honorable mention from Scholastic for her poetry and hopes to continue composing additional pieces. This year, Kate is focusing on a feature that documents her senior year. “Senior Spotlight” will highlight the important traditions that make Mayfield the special place it is. Kate is ready to explore new topics, improve her writing, and report on issues she is passionate about. Kate is eager for another fun year of reporting.
