How Can I Look Stylish in the Winter? While it is hard to look stylish during the cold season, I think it is the most fun! With the cold air circulating, you get to play with more layers, which means more elements in your outfit. To create a stylish winter look, I believe the key pieces are your underwear (not literally underwear, but a good underlayer), a cozy sweater or sweatshirt, a warm jacket, and, of course, some fun accessories. Now, let’s break it down into more detailed tips!
Underwear: This can be a range of things. It can be a simple tank top and jeans, sweat set, workout set, honestly whatever you want. It really depends on how you want to present yourself and where you are going. For a more sophisticated look, I would say start out with some basic jeans and a tee. My favorite simple jeans are any from Aritzia, and the best basic tank and tees from skims. With having a simple and basic underlayer, it creates a perfect base for making your outfit as elevated, colorful, and or simple as you want.
Sweaters and Sweatshirts are essential for elevating or casualizing your outfit.A comfortable and plain sweatshirt creates a laid-back look, perfect for a day filled with shopping or grabbing coffee. For the most comfortable, basic, and casual sweatshirts, I would check out LA Apparel, Akimbo Club, and Aritzia. If you are looking for something more colorful and fun, checkout designs from Stussy and madhappy. On the other hand, sweaters can really accentuate your outfit for a nice night out, or dinner. There is a wide range of sweaters you can choose from. For a nice dinner or more formal occasion, a cardigan is the way to go. Some great options are Revolves’ Dani Cardigan, Revolves’ Mona Button Down and Oversized Cardigan. You can also opt for a button down sweater or zip up that serves as more of a top than a sweater. I really like Renata Cardigan, Limor Cardigan, Ayden Cardigan, Jaded London Zip, and Ciara Cardigan. When it comes to simple sweaters, you can really have fun with your choices. Sweaters are not only cozy and warm but also stylish, making them a great winter staple. Some of my all time favorite versatile options include th Bronco Sweater and Arrowtown Hand Knit Sweater as well as selections from Nordstrom, and Aritzia.
JACKETS! This is arguably the most important aspect to your outfit. It truly makes or breaks an outfit. You can either accentuate and elevate your look or keep it simple and relaxed, thanks to the variety of jackets available. Jean jackets are great staples, especially paired with denim jeans (denim on denim is a perfect combination). My favorite denim jacket is from Stussy. If you are looking for a more neutral yet warm jacket, the Nylon Club Jacket from Stussy is a great option. You can also go with a leather jacket like the lioness bella moto jacket, 442 Vintage Leather, or the Brown Distressed Leather Jacket. If you’re in the mood for something fun and cozy, the Jaded London Knit jacket is the way to go. You can also do more of a coat vibe, like a Fur Coat. The key to picking a jacket is to define the type of outfit you want to create. For a sweats or pajama look, a fluffy jacket is ideal. For a casual shopping day or coffee date, a jean jacket is the way to go. And for a night out on the town, I would go for a coat or leather jacket that will elevate your outfit immensely.
Accessories add so much to your outfit. If you are stuck feeling as if your outfit is lacking in something, the answer is accessories. You can pick up something simple like Rayban Sunglasses (my personal favorite). You might also consider adding a stylish purse; I’m particularly drawn to Vintage Coach, Claire V, Vestiaire Vintage, and Free People. Belts can make a significant difference, too. I always reach for one to perfect my outfit, with my favorites coming from Free People. And then of course, last but not least, jewelry. Bold, chunky pieces (for me in gold) add so much. I often find myself feeling bare without jewelry; for instance, I wear my Vivienne Westwood necklace every day and highly recommend it. Jewelry is highly personal, and should resonate and suit you. One tip, for finding fun unique jewelry, is to checkout etsy.
