After the storm hit the California coast this past Thursday, Mayfield Senior School faced the return of their biggest foe– The River. As rain poured from the sky, water built up across campus and created a stream of water so large that students dubbed it The River. The River spans Mayfield’s parking lots and continues down the entire hill, forcing students to cross it before reaching their classes. Students could be seen throughout the day on Thursday with soaked-through shoes and wet backpacks, dragging water throughout campus.
It was nearly impossible for students to find refuge from the dreary weather as water attached itself to girls across all grades and found its way inside. Mayfield’s limited indoor seating forced students to crowd hallways and classrooms as they sought a dry place to eat. Many senior students didn’t attend their first class of the day, leaving the Senior parking lot unusually empty. While the rain is certainly welcomed by Mayfield’s environmentalists, many students were unhappy with Thursday’s weather.
