Spring Tours Scrubbed Due to COVID-19 Concerns
The rising presence of the respiratory virus, COVID-19 has spread growing concern across the country. The recent rise in cases has caused second thoughts for travelers for fear of contracting the virus. The CDC has issued a warning across the country for all Institutes of Higher Education to postpone and cancel all abroad traveling resulting in colleges and universities ordering to suspend current study-abroad programs and require students to return to the U.S.
Unfortunately, the virus has also impacted Mayfield’s Arts Immersion trip to Central Europe.
“We made this difficult decision because the health and safety of our students and faculty are of primary importance,” wrote Head of School, Mrs. Kate Morin, to families affected by the decision. However, there are plans to reschedule the trip for the summer and have the full opportunity to be immersed in European culture without any worry. Also postponed until summer is the annual Spring Break Tour of East Coast Colleges which became necessary as a growing number of colleges and universities that are canceling in-person classes and offering remote learning instead.
